Seedling

I've been using this soil to start my garden off this year. And I've had high germination planting seeds directly into this soil. I would recommend transplanting once your started your seeds because I find the it will dry a bit quick once the plants are a couple of weeks old. The main thing I notice, is the drainage is great, but this also means it will dry out quicker. This mix works great for new seedling starting, and the root growth has been extremely quick. Everything's produced a great green color and I'm happy with the start I had to the garden this year with this soil.

First of all, it is difficult to ignore the price tag of this premium soil mix. It is expensive. But after seeing, handling and using it for my houseplants, I cannot deny that this soil is different.

I normally buy brand name general, all purpose potting soil. Rosy soil is much darker, richer and denser than normal potting soil. No fillers, it doesn't dry out, and it comes in a resealable bag.

To compensate for the expense, I combined the Rosy soil with the regular potting mix the last time I repotted some of my houseplants. The plants cannot talk, but if they could. I think they would thank me!

I was excited to receive this rosy soil so that I could start my flower seeds indoor this year. The package says that it is also good for propagating plants, which is a huge plus!! The bag has a great pull tab to easily unseal the package, and then it is resealable! The mix seems to be a very high quality. It has bark in it which is good for aeration. It is a very dark color, nearly black, so you may want to wear gloves when handling. The only downside is that because the color of the soil is so dark naturally, it is hard to tell when it is moist (and of course you want to make sure your soil stays moist when starting seedlings). I am already looking into buying more rosy products for my other soil and planting needs!

At the recommendation of the Rosy Soil people I bought the seedling soil for my microgreens. I love the rich dark color. I had a feeling that the bio char and worm castings would be beneficial and they are. My micro greens were ready 2 days earlier than usual. My husband and I both felt their flavor was improved!

I love that this soil does not have that awful chunky white rocky stuff in it - forgive me, I forget what it's called but it's in most soils. With Rosy Soil I'm getting 100% growing medium that's rich and robust.

Historically one uses some sort of seaweed fertilizer for micro greens. I have not felt the need to do this with my Rosy Soil - which is nice, it's one less thing to fuss with, and one less expense. I'm getting highly nutrient dense micro greens with just this great soil.

This seeding mix from Rosy works to grow and keep your houseplants or outside deck plants looking great. This is a organic mix so you can use it and not worry. I live near the 45th parallel so I have a very limited growing season June, July. August if lucky so starting your outdoor plants early is a better way to grow and maintain them. Make sure you read and follow the recommendations on the easy open close package. Now I can enjoy my work longer when I set on my deck and relax or when we have get togethers and I receive many nice remarks on how nice all the plants look. This comes in a resealable bag make sure you read and follow the instructions.

The last time I saw soil this color was in Iowa, the bread belt of the nation, which has deep, dark, rich, loamy soil. I've never seen this black color in a potting mix. When working with it I found that there are lots and lots of very small bark pieces in it which are visibly hidden at first because of the blackness of the soil. The bark adds an organic element which helps to increase aeration too, but it feels like there may just a little bit too much of it, so I worked in a tablespoon of worm castings to the soil of each pot to offer the sprouting plants a little easier access to beneficial nutrients. I was able to fill twenty 3-1/4" seedling cups and still have a half a bag left. Going to finish it off in the next couple of days. The bag itself is good. It's made of a heavy duty plastic with a zip type closure for storage. So far I really like this potting soil. I'll update this review once I see how the seeds sprout and the seedlings grow.

This soil is a mix meant for seedlings and indoor plants and other indoor uses. It has a nice texture which seems to not pack down and will hold water well. This soil is all natural so you don't have too worry about chemicals and any other dangers. The real test for this soil will be in how it performs over an entire season. I will update my review at that time to let you know how it performs long term.
